It's Getting Hotter: The Strongest Flare in August Occurred on the Sun

Class M4.4 flare lasted 12 minutes

A powerful class M4.4 flare was recorded on the Sun. It became the strongest in a series of five August flares. This was reported by the Solar Astronomy Laboratory of the Space Research Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences.

The flare began at 18:46 Moscow time and ended at 18:58. This is the fifth class M flare registered since August 3.

The first of them reached level M2.9 and was the strongest in the last month and a half. Currently, the Sun has passed the peak of its activity and is declining.
