Nuclear scientists continue to prepare power unit No. 1 of the Rooppur NPP in Bangladesh for launch. Workers have completed the purging of fresh steam lines in the turbine hall. This was reported by Rosatom.
This is one of the key stages of the cold and hot run-in of the power unit. The purging was carried out using fresh steam under a pressure of 2.0 MPa and a temperature of 200 °C.
Then the workers will perform a repeated purge, increasing the volume of steam. In this way, they will completely clean the lines and check the operation of the equipment under a load close to the operational one.
Alexey Deriy, Vice President for Projects in Bangladesh at Atomstroyexport, stated that this is an important stage of commissioning works at power unit No. 1.
In the future, the Rooppur NPP, built according to the latest Russian VVER-1200 project, will provide up to 10% of Bangladesh's clean energy for decades to come.
Earlier, Rosatom began hot run-in of the VVER-1200 reactor.
