Russian aircraft manufacturing is quite actively implementing plans for the development of new aircraft, as well as the modernization of existing civil aviation aircraft. However, when it comes to new products, namely the MC-21 and SJ-100, one should not forget about other aircraft that are no worse than the new products. For example, Tupolev spoke about plans for the development of the Tu-214 aircraft.
Minus a Flight Engineer
One of these plans is to create an aircraft for two crew members. In addition, Tupolev plans to create a short version of the aircraft like the Tu-204-300. In this form, it will be quite an interesting "machine", given that there are no analogues of this format. Perhaps later there will be a shortened version of the MC-21 and developers will come up with something interesting there.
I think such an aircraft will be in demand. For example, the shortened Airbus A-319, although it did not become super popular, had its niche in the air transportation market.
Much depends on the load; if it is possible to occupy 80-90% of the cabin of the regular, or so-called basic version, then the efficiency of the shortened version will be lower.
Balance is Important
In this regard, balance is important, because the aircraft must be selected according to the load. In general, a universal aircraft does not exist, so a variety of choices for carriers will only have a positive impact on the efficiency of using various aircraft.
Also, such shortened versions perform well in the so-called "rolling out" of destinations, when there are still few passengers, the flight is new, and, accordingly, the load is minimal. The idea is quite promising and will definitely interest some categories of operators.
Earlier www1.ru reported that an aviation expert declared the high reliability of the SJ-100 "Superjet".
