Turkey plans to complete work on the first power unit of the Akkuyu NPP (being built according to the Rosatom project) in 2025 and put it into operation in 2026, according to the head of the country's Ministry of Energy, Alparslan Bayraktar.

Our goal is to complete the project of the first power unit this year, but I expect that we will put it into operation during 2026, we are working intensively on this.
Alparslan Bayraktar, Head of the Turkish Ministry of Energy

According to him, the delay is due to external factors. In particular, the German company Siemens refused to supply the necessary equipment due to anti-Russian sanctions.

At the end of June, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Alexander Novak said that the first power unit would be launched"in the near future". He specified that this would happen within a year.
