In Russia, there is an increase in the number of cases of drivers being held liable for dangerous driving, drifting, racing, and driving on the oncoming lane.
Fines reach up to 300 thousand rubles or imprisonment for up to two years for such offenses.
Since the beginning of the year, fines up to 180 thousand rubles have been recorded in the Moscow and Saratov regions, Primorye, St. Petersburg, the Republic of Komi, and other regions. The first case of applying the new measures was registered in Kaspiysk at the beginning of the year, when a foreign car driver deliberately drove into the oncoming lane and filmed it.
Article 267.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation, concerning actions threatening the safe operation of vehicles, was originally intended to combat hooliganism on transport, but was rarely applied. Now it has begun to be used against aggressive drivers.
Earlier, www1.ru reported that in Russia increased fines for exceeding the dimensions of trucks and for refusing to stop on demand.
