A long-range anti-submarine aircraft Tu-142 of the Northern Fleet conducted a reconnaissance of the ice field in the Arctic, the fleet's press service said.
The crew performed a scheduled flight over the neutral waters of the Arctic Ocean, and conducted reconnaissance of the ice field near the Franz Josef Land archipelago.
The duration of the Tu-142 crew's flight was about 8 hours. In addition to performing ice reconnaissance tasks, the pilots monitored the situation and conducted aerial reconnaissance in the Arctic.
The flight took place in accordance with International Airspace Regulations. Flights in the Arctic are preceded by thorough navigational training of crews, taking into account the difficult meteorological situation and the special geographical location.
