The plant's downtime is planned and will be completed in the second half of August. At the same time, the shipment of finished products to customers continues as usual.

In May 2025, JSC "Sayanskkhimplast" was transferred to state ownership following a lawsuit by the Prosecutor General's Office. The Khamovnichesky Court of Moscow ruled to return the plant; the defendants in the case were Viktor Kruglov, former chairman of the Legislative Assembly of the Irkutsk region, his family members, former CEO of JSC "Sayanskkhimplast" Nikolai Melnik, and two legal entities.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the former General Motors plant will be restarted in Russia.
