India and Russia may resume the program to develop the BrahMos-2K hypersonic cruise missile, according to sources from IDRW.
The work will be carried out by a joint venture between the Russian "NPO Mashinostroyenia" and the Indian DRDO — BrahMos Aerospace. The final decision is expected to be made before the end of 2025 during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to New Delhi.
BrahMos-2K was originally conceived as the successor to the supersonic BrahMos missile. Presumably, the base of the missile will be the Russian 3M22 Zircon with a ramjet engine.
The Russian Zircon is capable of reaching speeds of up to Mach 9 and has a range of up to 1000 km.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the Admiral Nakhimov cruiser with Kalibr, Zircon, and Onyx missiles has completed repairs.
