АвтоВАЗ начал подготовку к запуску пропановых версий автомобилей

The automaker and partners are preparing gas modifications of Lada - Largus and Vesta may be the first

The ATS Group of Companies from Tolyatti, which cooperates with AvtoVAZ, has begun preparations for the production of propane (LPG) versions of Lada. They are currently testing equipment on the Granta model. The capacity of the gas cylinder will be 42 liters.

It is not yet known exactly which models will receive a propane modification, but ATS has previously worked on methane (CNG) versions of Lada Largus and Vesta. Alexey Suchkov, director of ATS GC, told Rossiyskaya Gazeta that production volumes will depend on demand. The company expects to produce from 100 to 200 such cars per month.

Propane versions of Lada cars may be more profitable than gasoline versions for several reasons. Firstly, gas is usually cheaper than gasoline, which reduces fuel costs. Secondly, gas vehicles have lower emissions of harmful substances, which makes them more environmentally friendly.

However, propane modifications also have disadvantages. The installation of gas equipment increases the cost of the car - for example, the factory version of Lada will be more expensive by 50 thousand rubles. Also, gas cylinders take up space in the trunk, which can reduce its useful volume. Another point is that in cold weather, starting the engine on gas is sometimes more difficult than on gasoline.
