The administration of St. Petersburg has secured the exclusion of "I.M.C. Machine Tool Plant" from the special economic zone (SEZ) "St. Petersburg" after more than a year of proceedings. The decision was made by the Arbitration Court of the city on July 18.
The company entered into an agreement on technical and innovative activities in the SEZ in June 2016. However, implementation never began in nine years.
During the trial, "I.M.C. Machine Tool Plant" did not dispute its exclusion, but only requested a reduction in the fine of 5 million rubles, which was calculated according to a formula agreed upon in the contract. The court noted that the company did not cause losses to its partner, as it had not used the allocated land plot since 2019 and did not interfere with other investors. The fine was reduced to 300 thousand rubles.
The SEZ "St. Petersburg" was created in 2017. Currently, about 60 residents operate in the zone, most of whom specialize in pharmaceuticals and biotechnology.
Earlier www1.ru reported that Russia is almost completely dependent on foreign machine tools.
