Gorky Automobile Plant (GAZ) has begun installing upgraded ERA-GLONASS system units on its vehicles. The updated version has a built-in accelerometer that automatically detects not only collisions, but also vehicle rollovers. This improves the accuracy of accident recognition and speeds up the transmission of signals to emergency services.
The upgrade covers the entire GAZ model range: Gazelle NN, Gazelle NEXT, Gazelle Business, Sobol NN, Sobol Business, as well as Gazon NEXT, Sadko NEXT, Sadko 9, Valdai 8 and Valdai 12 trucks. The updated system is already being installed on production vehicles.
The integration of the accelerometer can significantly improve the level of safety and speed of response in the event of an accident, especially in the case of rollovers, which previously could not be recognized by the system automatically.
