«Атомные» города Урала получат мастер-планы: инициатива связана со строительством нового энергоблока на Белоярской АЭС

\"Rosatom\" to Invest Billions in the Development of Zarechny, Lesnoy, and Novouralsk

A key step in the development of the \"atomic\" cities of Zarechny, Novouralsk, and Lesnoy will be the creation of master plans — long-term urban development strategies. The corresponding agreement was signed by the head of the region, Denis Pasler, and the Director General of \"Rosatom,\" Alexey Likhachev.

Over the course of two years, urban planners, architects, and sociologists will develop documents on the basis of which engineering networks will be built, public spaces will be improved, and infrastructure projects will be implemented in these \"atomic\" cities. Funding will come from \"Rosatom,\" the region, and the federal budget.

The creation of master plans is closely linked to major investments in nuclear energy, including the construction of power unit No. 5 with the BN-1200M reactor at the Beloyarsk Nuclear Power Plant. This is expected to provide the city of Zarechny with thousands of jobs and a stable tax revenue. The new unit with a fourth-generation fast neutron reactor will ensure multiple use of fuel and reduce radioactive waste. Work will begin in 2027, with launch planned for 2034.

As part of the cooperation between the region and \"Rosatom,\" Zarechny received 3.1 billion rubles from 2013 to 2024. In 2025, 1.2 billion rubles will be allocated for the development of the three cities — 400 million for each. Additionally, Beloyarsk NPP annually invests funds in the development of social infrastructure and personnel training.

Beloyarsk NPP is located 45 kilometers from Yekaterinburg in the Sverdlovsk region. The station was put into operation in 1964. The NPP includes 2 power units with fast neutron reactors of industrial power level (BN-600 and BN-800).
