Kemerovo company "GRAS," a resident of the Kuzbass industrial SEZ, has completed the construction of a high-tech workshop for the production of granulated ammonium sulfate. Investments in the project exceeded 1 billion rubles, a significant part of which – 406 million – was provided by the Industrial Development Fund (IDF) in the form of a concessional loan for the purchase of Russian equipment.
The new line, located at the site of Kemerovo "Azot" (the raw material supplier), will reach a capacity of 250,000 tons of products annually. The main consumer will be Russian agricultural producers, and some volumes are planned to be exported to Latin American countries. The granulated form of ammonium sulfate, an effective nitrogen-sulfur fertilizer, is especially in demand for grain, oilseed, and vegetable crops on alkaline soils.
Currently, Russia produces a significant amount of ammonium sulfate in crystalline form. Thanks to the financial support of the Industrial Development Fund, a new production of granulated, in other words, spherical ammonium sulfate is being created in Kemerovo. The spherical format, unlike the crystalline one, has several advantages: uniform application to the soil, the possibility of creating multi-element complex mixtures, reducing or completely eliminating the formation of dust when working with the product. In addition, spherical fertilizers are more suitable for the operation of modern agricultural machinery than powders.
A key aspect of the project was high localization: 98% of the technological equipment is of Russian production. The line involves a pan granulator, a fluidized bed apparatus, conveyors, elevators, and crushers, including wagon scales from "ASI Corporation." The process is controlled by an automated control system (ACS), which collects data from sensors in real time.
