ОСК намерена купить Кингисеппский машиностроительный завод

The company produces engines for large-capacity vessels

The United Shipbuilding Corporation (USC) is preparing for a significant deal: in the next two to three months, it may become the owner of 100% of the shares of the Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ). Experts estimate the value of the asset differently. Most of them agree that this is a strategically important step for the state corporation, allowing it to localize the production of key components.

The press service of USC emphasized that the creation of its own production of low-speed, high-power engines is critical for the construction of a large-capacity commercial fleet in the current geopolitical situation.

Two weeks later, the managing director of KMZ, Mikhail Danilenko, announced possible plans for the company to become part of USC. According to him, stable funding is needed for the development and creation of marine engines. Danilenko added that it is extremely important for Russia to have its own large-capacity fleet. Currently, representatives of USC and KMZ are not commenting on the deal, journalists note.

According to the Ministry of Industry and Trade, by 2040, Russia will need to build at least 270 large ships, which will require 414 engines with a capacity of over 10 MW. Experts estimate the value of the deal from 900 million to 20 billion rubles, but many believe that the actual conditions may differ.

Despite potential risks, such as the need for a full verification of information and possible hidden obligations, experts are confident that this deal will bring significant benefits to USC. It will improve operational efficiency, control costs, and ensure compliance with quality standards at the new asset. In addition, USC will gain access to KMZ patents and technologies, which could significantly strengthen its position in the shipbuilding market.
