Scientists from Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNRPU) have developed software that automates the testing of gas turbine engines. The program, created in LabVIEW, is loaded into the stand controller and controls valves, pumps, and sensors without operator intervention.
The software collects data in real time, quickly identifying deviations. The logic diagram is presented as a block diagram, which simplifies adaptation for different types of engines. The PNRPU scientists' program will reduce testing time by 30–50%, increase accuracy by eliminating the human factor, and support domestic gas turbine engines in the context of import substitution.
It sets the sequence of operating modes of the unit, their duration and parameters — for example, speed, pressure, temperature. It also controls the transitions between these modes — all without human intervention.
Gas turbine engines (GTEs) are key elements of modern aviation, energy, and transport. Their reliability directly affects flight safety, so resource tests are a mandatory step before operation. Traditionally, this process requires manual control of parameters (speed, pressure, temperature), which takes hundreds of hours and depends on the human factor.
The development has already attracted the attention of an aircraft manufacturing enterprise in Perm, which is part of the Rostec corporation. The introduction of such solutions can accelerate the certification of new engines and increase their reliability.
