Kamikaze drones "Geran-2" took the best from the Western Storm Shadow missiles: artillery is no longer needed

Drones use algorithms to match the visual image of the final target

The modernized Geran-2 strike drones received a machine vision complex, a guidance camera, and a radio modem for direct control. The drones are used with elements of autonomous targeting and the possibility of remote correction in flight, including with the help of artificial intelligence.

Machine vision allows the Gerans to autonomously recognize and confirm the target upon approach, using algorithms to match the visual image with the loaded target profile. This is the same principle as modern cruise missiles, such as the Storm Shadow.

With this approach, the operator's role is reduced to making a decision on approach; the drone does everything else itself — goes to the target, stabilizes, recognizes the object, and attacks.

The system significantly reduces the load on the operator and allows the drones to be used serially and massively, without highly qualified personnel, which in theory could help to move to an even more massive use by increasing the number of operators and reducing training times.
