Fine for failure to stop may increase 14 times

The State Duma wants to toughen penalties for drivers who ignore the demands of security officials

The State Duma wants to significantly increase fines for drivers who refuse to stop at the request of security officials. Under the new bill, which passed its second reading, the base fine will increase 14-fold. Previously, in the fall of 2024, the project was approved in the first reading.

Not only police officers, but also customs officers or other regulatory authorities can demand that a car be stopped. Currently, the fine for refusing to comply with this requirement is from 500 to 800 rubles. The new bill increases the fine to 7-10 thousand rubles. The maximum fine can reach 10 thousand rubles, and a repeated violation is punishable by deprivation of rights for up to six months.

In addition, the bill addresses issues of control over oversized vehicles. Initially, it was planned to increase the fine for refusing to undergo weight or size control to 10 thousand rubles, and also to introduce a 100-thousand fine for owners of such vehicles. However, by the time of the second reading, the fine for truck owners had increased to 600 thousand rubles.
