Мошенники «раздевают» россиян на фото и шантажируют: доступ к изображениям в соцсетях посоветовали ограничить

Attackers take publicly available photos, "undress" them using special algorithms, and then send them with threats

To protect themselves from scammers who blackmail users with fake intimate images, it is worth restricting access to their photo albums on social networks. This was stated by Artem Sheikin, Deputy Chairman of the Council for the Development of the Digital Economy under the Federation Council, Senator.

He claims that criminals use publicly available images from social networks. With the help of special programs, they make these images "naked" and then send them with threats: either pay, or these photos will be published on adult sites or sent to your family and friends.

Do not give in to provocations. These images are fake, they did not exist. Do not pay the extortionists. This will only prolong the blackmail. Check your privacy settings, close your photo albums and restrict access to personal information.

The senator urged people to report extortionists to the police and save all correspondence. It is also recommended to file spam complaints in messengers or social networks. It is important to tell your loved ones about what happened.

Today, when technologies provide tremendous opportunities, the state and society must join forces to resist their criminal use. I am sure that such crimes should receive not only a quick response from law enforcement agencies, but also a legal qualification adequate to the moral and psychological harm.

Earlier, Tatyana Deshkina, Deputy Director for Products at VisionLabs, said that attackers call Russians under the guise of opinion polls in order to record a person's voice and create deepfakes. Attackers try to make the recordings natural in order to bypass detectors. To do this, they add sounds of poor communication and background noise. For example, the noise of cars or someone's conversations.
