Deceptive "Dan-M" Drones with a Jet Engine Developed in Russia: Will Fool Air Defense Systems

Drones imitate cruise missiles and aircraft

Russian military forces have begun using new deceptive drones, the "Dan-M." These drones are equipped with a jet engine and are designed to imitate cruise missiles and aircraft.

Characteristics of the "Dan-M" in the Flying Target Version:

  • Flight altitude — from 50 to 9000 m
  • Speed — from 300 to 750 km/h
  • Flight duration — up to 70 min
  • Takeoff weight — 350 kg

Analysts believe that either the Russian Armed Forces have retained many such targets, which makes sense to convert into jet drones, or the "Dan-M" is used simply to divert air defense assets during strikes, as E-95M decoys were previously used for these purposes.

Earlier, www1.ru reported that the newest 9M134 "Bulat" missile will quadruple the ammunition load of the ATGM.
