LMS-901 "Baikal" Aircraft Estimated at 220–340 Million Rubles: First Deliveries in 2026

UZGA Completes Transition to Domestic Units

The cost of the Russian light multipurpose aircraft LMS-901 "Baikal" will range from 220 million to 340 million rubles, according to Leonid Luzgin, General Director of the Ural Civil Aviation Plant (UZGA).

The price is comparable to the American Cessna Grand Caravan, but considering logistics and customs, the domestic model will be cheaper. The first five aircraft for the airline "Aurora" are planned for delivery in late 2026, with another five in 2027.

The project, initially developed with a General Electric engine, has switched to Russian units – the VK-800SM engine and the AV-901 propeller. 12 billion rubles have been allocated for their integration, of which 10.4 billion are state funds. UZGA plans to complete certification with the updated power plant by the end of 2026.

Experts doubt the competitiveness of "Baikal" against Mi-8 helicopters, which carry more passengers and do not require developed airport infrastructure. However, according to analysts, domestic demand for replacing outdated An-2s could reach 100–150 units, especially with government support for leasing and operating expenses.
