Further modernization of the Tor-M2 short-range anti-aircraft missile system (SAM) may be aimed at developing a new generation of small-sized anti-aircraft guided missiles (SAMs) designed to destroy aircraft-type kamikaze drones. This opinion was expressed by military analyst Igor Korotchenko.
According to him, new versions of the complex may take into account the existing realities of modern combat. In addition to the "classic" composition of existing types of SAMs, the Tor-M2 will be able to use a new generation of small-sized missiles adapted specifically for solving the problem of destroying UAVs during massive attacks.
The task is to develop small-sized and relatively cheap special SAMs for the destruction of drones. Obviously, further modernization of the Tor SAM system will go in this direction.
The Tor-M2 complexes are on continuous combat duty, providing reliable protection of units from various air threats. Mobile groups move quickly between positions, quickly deploying the complex from a traveling position to combat readiness to control the airspace.
The modern radar system of the complex allows you to effectively detect and destroy a wide range of targets - from aircraft and high-speed cruise missiles to low-signature drones.
