Russian cosmonauts will test a new integrated simulator for the next-generation manned transport spacecraft (PTK) — "Orel" — for the first time in September. This was announced by Maxim Kharlamov, head of the Y. A. Gagarin Research and Test Cosmonaut Training Center (TsPK is part of Roscosmos).
According to Kharlamov, the simulator tests will be completed in June as part of the first flight program of the new spacecraft.
In June, the simulator tests will be completed in the scope of the first flight program of the new promising transport spacecraft. I think that we will hold the first session in September with those cosmonauts who are currently assigned to the group that supports the PTK and will be preparing for a flight on the spacecraft in the future.
The device will allow practicing all stages of the mission: from launch and insertion into orbit to descent and landing.
All stages of the flight program will be practiced on the simulator, but this will happen closer to the moment when we will be preparing for the launch of the manned transport spacecraft.
The new simulator is designed with the ability to simulate various scenarios, including maneuvers in orbit and unmanned modes. This is an important step in preparing for real flights, as the accuracy of the simulation directly affects the safety of the crew. Roscosmos previously stated that the new generation PTK will replace the Soyuz series spacecraft, expanding the capabilities of Russian manned space exploration.
