Первый пуск новейшей ракеты «Союз-5» могут отложить на год: полезной нагрузки для нее нет

"Closed Space": it is more economically viable to launch Angara-A3

A possible postponement of the first launch of the new Russian Soyuz-5 launch vehicle from the Baiterek rocket complex, built on the basis of the Baikonur Cosmodrome, to March or the end of 2026 is being considered. This was reported by the Telegram channel "Closed Space".

The channel's authors recalled that the Soyuz-5 is similar in payload capacity to the Angara-A3, which would be more economically viable to make in order to reduce launch costs.

In addition, there are currently no payloads for Soyuz-5 from either Russia or Kazakhstan.

Why do we need Soyuz-5? To show that Russia and Kazakhstan have prospects for cooperation at Baikonur and in space in general. To give work to employees, to preserve competencies and jobs at the Progress Rocket Space Centre.

Soyuz-5 is a promising Russian medium-class launch vehicle with increased payload capacity. It is being developed for launching automatic spacecraft into near-Earth orbits. In April, the Russian government approved a draft agreement with Kazakhstan on the start of flight tests of the Baiterek space rocket complex with the Soyuz-5 launch vehicle in 2025.
