The National Air and Space Museum (NASM) in the USA has presented a restored Il-2 attack aircraft. The aircraft will be exhibited in the new Jay I. Kislak World War II in the Air gallery at the Steven F. Udvar-Hazy Center, near Washington Dulles Airport, which is scheduled to open in 2026.
The origin of this Il-2 is not disclosed. It is likely a composite aircraft, consisting mainly of parts from at least four crashed Il-2s found in Russia.
The preserved identification belongs to one of the donor aircraft, built in late 1943, probably at aircraft factory No. 18 in Kuibyshev, and was shot down on the Leningrad Front on March 15, 1944. The pilot was Lieutenant Ivan Maksimovich Andreev, and the gunner was Sergeant Goncharov.
Earlier www1.ru reported that the frigate Admiral Golovko, carrier of hypersonic "Zircon" missiles, has completed a long voyage.
