Scientists at Perm National Research Polytechnic University (PNIPU) have developed a new class of painkillers. The organic compounds have a pronounced analgesic effect and minimal toxicity. The new drugs double the time to pain reaction compared to the control group.
In toxicity testing, the compounds were classified as Class IV, meaning they are practically non-toxic. Even at high doses (1500 mg/kg), they did not cause animal deaths in tests. In the future, these compounds can be used to create safe analgesics.
Of greatest interest are derivatives of 3-imino(hydrazono)furan-2(3H). The substances are easy to synthesize and have high chemical activity. They demonstrate a wide range of biological activities, including anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial.
In collaboration with other research institutions, scientists synthesized a new class of compounds — N-alkyl-4-aryl-2-aroylhydrazinylidene-4-oxobutanamides, which could form the basis for the development of new drugs with minimal side effects.
