One of the power units of the Novovoronezh NPP was taken out for scheduled maintenance

The repair work includes modernization of turbine automation and fuel reloading

On May 4, 2025, power unit No. 6 of the Novovoronezh NPP was taken out for scheduled preventive maintenance (PPR) in accordance with the approved application and permission of the power system dispatcher. The estimated duration of the repair work is 38 days.

As part of the PPR, specialists will carry out current, intermediate and major repairs of the main and auxiliary equipment of the reactor and turbine plants. The reactor core will also be reloaded: some of the spent fuel cassettes will be replaced with fresh ones. Work is planned to clean the cooling tower bowl and sprinklers with their partial replacement. In addition, the turbine automatic control and protection system, as well as the turbine generator lubrication system, will be modernized with the installation of an additional heat exchanger.

This repair is the first after the transfer of the power unit to commercial operation according to the 18-month fuel cycle schedule. Previously, the power unit had already worked for two campaigns of 18 months, but in the mode of pilot operation. The experience gained during such repairs makes it possible to ensure a high level of equipment reliability in the conditions of an increased inter-repair period.

Currently, power units No. 4, No. 5 and No. 7 of the Novovoronezh NPP are operating in normal mode, providing a total load of 2,562 MW in accordance with the dispatch schedule. No violations of the limits and conditions of safe operation of power units have been recorded.
