The "ChronobioticsDB" project systematizes information on more than 300 compounds, including natural and synthetic substances capable of regulating sleep, wakefulness, and other key biological processes.
Disruptions in circadian rhythms are a common problem, leading to insomnia, chronic fatigue, and even the development of diseases. However, until now, there has been no single platform that combines data on substances capable of correcting biological clocks. "ChronobioticsDB" solves this problem by offering a user-friendly interface for searching, analyzing, and comparing chronobiotics (substances that affect human circadian rhythms).
The database includes chemical formulas and structures of substances, mechanisms of action on genes and proteins, as well as information on clinical trials. This provides quick access to up-to-date data and the latest research results worldwide. Each drug has an information card that describes its characteristics, applications, and possible adverse reactions in accessible language. The database also contains information on whether permission to use the drug has been obtained from medical regulatory authorities. For the convenience of researchers and medical professionals, "ChronobioticsDB" is integrated with leading global databases in chemistry and pharmaceuticals, such as "PubChem" and "DrugBank"
"ChronobioticsDB" provides simple tools for finding information about each substance. With its help, anyone can quickly find the chemical formula of a substance, see its structure, and, after reviewing the list of genes and proteins—drug targets, understand exactly how a particular substance affects the human internal clock.
The development opens up new opportunities for doctors and researchers. Now, specialists will be able to select therapy more accurately, and scientists will be able to accelerate the search for new drugs. In the future, the database may be supplemented with AI algorithms to predict the effectiveness of substances.
Similar projects, such as "DrugBank" and "ChEMBL", focus on general pharmacology, but the Russian development is the first to specialize specifically in chronobiotics. This opens the way for new research in the field of chronobiology and pharmacology.
