The Cabinet continues to improve legislation in the fight against fraudsters. New bills will allow security forces to block funds in citizens' accounts without a court decision. The innovation is aimed at combating cybercrime and theft. The blocking will be valid for no more than ten days and only for the amount that was stolen.
According to the explanatory note to the bill, the number of crimes in the digital sphere has quadrupled over the past six years. In 2024, more than 485 thousand cases of remote theft were registered. The damage reaches over 197.5 billion rubles. Experts emphasize that speed is the key to a successful fight against fraudsters.
The Chairman of the Investigative Committee of Russia, Alexander Bastrykin, believes that the existing procedures do not allow for a quick response to cyberattacks. The new measures will help security forces to be more efficient.
