38% of Russians Distrust AI in Hospitals: Deputies Propose Legislating Alternative Care

The "New People" party has proposed enshrining in law the right to refuse artificial intelligence services during treatment

State Duma deputies have proposed enshrining in law the right of citizens to refuse the use of artificial intelligence when receiving medical and educational services. The initiative aims to protect patients who do not trust new technologies.

The proposal was put forward by representatives of the "New People" faction, Alexey Nechaev and Anton Tkachev. They sent a letter to Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Grigorenko requesting that the possibility of alternative service without the use of AI be included in the developed regulations.

According to a VTsIOM poll, 38% of Russians do not yet trust artificial intelligence technologies, while 52% have expressed their willingness to use them. Deputies believe that in matters of health and education, where a mistake can have serious consequences, citizens should have the right to choose.

The State Duma is currently working on the foundations of legislation in the field of AI. The new law should take into account not only the development of technology, but also the concerns of citizens, especially in situations where there are risks to life and health.
