As of January 1, 2025, there are approximately 149.4 thousand VAZ-2101 cars, known as "Kopeyka," registered in Russia.
This model, produced between 1970 and 1988, remains popular despite its age. Interestingly, almost a third of all remaining VAZ-2101 cars are registered in the Siberian Federal District, with many also located in the Central and Southern Federal Districts.
The largest number of such cars is recorded in the Irkutsk region (9.3%), followed by the Altai Territory (7.2%) and the Krasnoyarsk Territory (6.2%). Moscow is only in 15th place in this ranking, and the Samara region, where the car was produced, is in 32nd place.
Since the release of this model, 4.8 million VAZ-2101 cars have been produced at AvtoVAZ. The remaining "Kopeykas" account for only 3% of the total production volume.
In addition, on April 19, the 55th anniversary of the first VAZ-2101 car, AvtoVAZ began mass production of the new LADA Iskra model, although only four cars were assembled on the first day.
On April 19, 1970, six cars rolled off the assembly line of the new plant in Togliatti, becoming a symbol of the Soviet automotive era.
