Unique oceanographic vessel "Admiral Vladimirsky" left Venezuela

The oceanographic research vessel (OIS) "Admiral Vladimirsky" of Project 852 of the Baltic Fleet, which is on a long voyage, has completed an unofficial visit to the port of La Guaira (Venezuela). This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation. OIS

During the stopover, the crew replenished supplies of water, fuel and food and carried out a technical inspection of the vessel. In addition, in the port, the sailors got acquainted with the historical sights of the port city, met with Venezuelan colleagues and made a number of excursion trips.

The vessel is now heading to a designated area of the Atlantic Ocean according to the plan of the oceanographic expedition. For the crew of the OIS "Admiral Vladimirsky", the visit to Venezuela was the first call at a port of a foreign state after leaving Kronstadt on March 13.

"Admiral Vladimirsky" is an oceanographic research vessel of Project 852, the only one remaining in service from the built series of six vessels.

It is designed for research in the field of chemical hydrology, monitoring currents, marine biological observations, aerological monitoring, marine meteorology and wave observations.

Nine specialized laboratories and two hydrographic survey boats are located on board. There is a hangar and a platform for a Ka-25 helicopter. The hull can withstand ice pressure up to 1 meter thick.
