The new Russian MC-21-300 aircraft consumes half the fuel compared to its Soviet predecessor in its class, the Tu-154M. This was announced by the General Director of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute (TsAGI), Kirill Sypalo.
Progress does not stand still, and, for example, the latest Russian MC-21-300 aircraft is approximately twice as fuel-efficient as its predecessor, the Tu-154M aircraft.
According to him, the introduction of any fundamentally different layouts or cardinal innovations compared to the classical aircraft scheme would require gigantic expenses.
Nevertheless, major firms and leading aviation centers not only in Russia, but also around the world, including with the support of the state, conduct continuous monitoring of new technologies that can be applied in aircraft construction, and carry out scientific research of promising layouts that most fully realize their advantages.
Earlier www1.ru reported that UAC revealed the purpose of the flap track fairings on aircraft.
