The United Aircraft Corporation (UAC, part of Rostec) has transferred an updated Il-96-400T aircraft to the Sky Gates transport airline (part of Red Wings). The aircraft became the second Il-96 family transport aircraft to join the airline's fleet.
Il-96-400T — a modification of the legendary "Ninety-Sixth", which received a special side door for cargo and an extended fuselage. This configuration makes the aircraft optimal for transport operations.
The machine is capable of delivering up to 92 tons of cargo over a distance of up to 5,000 km, or 42 tons over 12,000 km. This distance is greater than the flight distance between Moscow and Rio de Janeiro.
The Sky Gates fleet currently consists of two Il-96-400T and one Il-76TD aircraft. It is planned that the cargo fleet will continue to expand in the future with domestically produced aircraft.
Earlier, Rostec reported that the MC-21 airliner was given the task of competing with Boeing and Airbus.
