Tsirkon is the world's first sea-based hypersonic cruise missile, its flight speed reaches 9 times the speed of sound, and it hits a target at a distance of more than 1000 km. In addition to equipping the 885M Yasen-M submarines, Tsirkons are also armed with modernized 949A Antey project submarines, 22350 project frigates, and the Admiral Nakhimov missile cruiser, which is undergoing modernization.

The 885 Yasen project submarines are a series of domestic fourth-generation multi-purpose submarines. The lead ship of the project, the Severodvinsk nuclear submarine, entered the fleet in 2014.
