Russia Enters Top 2 Largest Arms Exporter Countries in 2024

TsAMTO: Russian exporters sold weapons abroad for $13.75 billion

At the end of 2024, Russia ranked second in the world among the leading arms exporters, selling military equipment and weapons abroad for $13.75 billion. This was reported by the Center for Analysis of World Arms Trade (TsAMTO).

When preparing the rating, TsAMTO takes into account only identified contracts for the supply of military equipment and weapons by exporting countries. In the calculations for Russia, due to the closure of relevant statistics since the spring of 2022, an expert assessment by TsAMTO analysts is provided.

The places in the ranking were distributed as follows:

  • 1. USA — 42.329 billion dollars (37.92% of world exports)
  • 2. Russia — 13.75 billion dollars (12.32%)
  •  3. France — 7.698 billion dollars (6.9%)
  • 4. South Korea — 5.691 billion dollars (5.10%)
  • 5. Italy — 5.69 billion dollars (5.10%)

The rating takes into account only commercial contracts for the supply of weapons and military equipment to foreign customers, it does not include gratuitous military assistance.

Earlier www1.ru reported that Su-30SM2 fighters and Su-24M bombers practiced strikes against warships in the Baltic.
