Alexander Dubrovkin, General Director of PC Transport Systems, spoke about two major projects that the company is implementing in the field of urban transport.
The first of these is the "General" electric bus, which for the first time in the world uses the technology of combined replenishment of traction batteries. This innovative solution allows the electric bus to be charged in several ways: from a standard outlet, dynamically through current collectors from trolleybus lines, and ultra-fast through tram networks. This technology provides the ability to charge the electric bus on the move, using the existing urban infrastructure, which significantly reduces the need to create additional charging stations.
Testing of the "General" was carried out in various climatic conditions in Russian cities such as Kursk, Tomsk, Krasnoyarsk, Yekaterinburg and Samara. The car showed excellent results, capable of covering more than 100 km on a single charge, with temperature fluctuations from -34° to +35° degrees. This project solves the problem of expensive charging stations and allows efficient use of existing infrastructure.
The company's second project concerns the development of a five-section double-sided tram car model 71-952. This tram is designed for the busiest routes in major cities such as Moscow and St. Petersburg, as well as for cities that already have or are planning to have metro tram lines. The main feature of the new tram is its high passenger capacity and the preservation of turning radii, which allows the use of existing infrastructure without the need for additional changes. This tram will be presented at the Innoprom-2025 International Industrial Exhibition.
The company has already demonstrated success in implementing similar projects, having supplied 62 tram cars for the Volgograd metro tram, which began operating last fall. To move to mass production of the new tram, it is necessary to pass certification tests, after which mass production will begin.
