Moscow authorities have launched testing of a new payment method in the metro. The trial is being conducted jointly with the Central Bank of the Russian Federation and VTB in a closed mode. This was reported by the capital's Department of Transport.
Focus group participants successfully purchased several "Troyka" cards and topped up their transport card balance with digital rubles at the ticket office using a universal QR code.
To pay in this way, the user needs to go to the bank's application and scan a single static QR code with their phone's camera. It is located in the checkout area. Then you need to select the digital ruble or the Faster Payments System and confirm the payment.
Moscow is a world leader in the number of payment methods in urban transport. In the future, passengers will be able to pay for travel using the digital ruble, which will be available on par with cash and non-cash money.
