Uzbekistan has become the first country where bank transfers for VTB's retail clients have become free of charge. Previously, the commission was 0.2% of the transfer amount, the bank's press service reported.
It is now possible to send funds there without commission by phone number to an account or card of an individual within the bank's own technology. Previously, the commission was 0.2% of the transfer amount.
Rostislav Yanykin, Senior Vice President of VTB, stated that Uzbekistan is one of the leaders in the number and volume of international transfers through VTB Bank. Every month, clients send about 100 thousand transfers there. In his opinion, this number will grow with the new service.
In 2024, VTB's retail clients made 2.1 million transfers to friendly countries. This is 6 times more than in 2023. The total amount of these transactions amounted to 50.5 billion rubles. Most often and most money was transferred to Tajikistan, China, Belarus, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan and Kazakhstan.
Earlier, VTB launched a new way to pay for purchases abroad for its clients — using a QR code. It can be scanned in the bank's mobile application. This function has already been successfully tested in one of the neighboring countries. In the first half of 2025, the new type of payment will become available for use in other countries as well.
