The minesweeper "Yakov Balyaev" of Project 12700 "Alexandrite" of the Pacific Fleet conducted exercises to destroy unmanned surface vehicles (USV), mines and unmanned aerial vehicles (UAV) in the Avacha Bay of the Pacific Ocean in Kamchatka. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
The crew of "Yakov Balyaev" used a 30-mm AK-306 artillery mount and a 12.7-mm Kord heavy machine gun to eliminate targets.
The sailors also carried out a concurrent search for mines using the Livadia-ME mine detection station and the Diez sonar system installed on board.
Minesweepers of Project 12700 "Alexandrite" are a series of Russian naval mine defense ships of the near sea zone. The ships of the series have a unique, the world's largest hull made of monolithic fiberglass, formed by vacuum infusion.
