Severstal Presents Modified Correx Steel for Radiator Production

New steel is 1.5 times more resistant to corrosion

The Russian company Severstal has developed modifications to Correx steel that are 1.5 times more resistant to corrosion compared to traditional steel grades. The novelties were presented at the Aquaflame by Aquatherm exhibition in Moscow.

Radiators made of Correx steel

Correx Stamp steel (for stamping and drawing), Correx Tube (for bending and profiling) were developed jointly with RIFAR and TsNII Chermet named after Bardin.

The production technology ensures a reduced content of carbon, manganese and silicon, as well as the absence of corrosion-active non-metallic inclusions (CANV). The new Correx modifications will increase the service life of radiators up to 25 years.

Georgy Argunov, Director for working with machine-building companies at Severstal, said that there is a growing demand for steel from heating appliance manufacturers in Russia. The use of domestic Correx steel will help make the final product (for example, radiators) cheaper than imported counterparts. The heating appliance market is currently estimated at 100 billion rubles, and the share of foreign products is less than 10%.
