The United Engine Corporation (UEC, part of the Rostec State Corporation) plans to establish production of AL-55E engines in India, the company's press service reported.
The AL-55E engine was developed by UEC in cooperation with the Indian corporation HAL. It is designed for the single-engine HJT-36 ("Yashas") trainer aircraft.
The engine design allows for maintenance and repair without removing it from the aircraft.
As part of a joint program with HAL, the AL-55E engine has confirmed its time between overhauls in bench tests in accordance with the technical specifications. The successful completion of the aircraft's certification tests will allow us to move on to the next stage – organizing licensed production of AL-55E engines at HAL's facilities.
UEC supplied 18 experimental engines for flight tests. The AL-55E has a thrust rating of 1760 kgf in maximum mode. This aircraft turbofan engine can also be used for unmanned aerial vehicles for various purposes.
Earlier www1.ru reported that UEC will present two of the latest aircraft engines — 177S and VK-650V.
