The Almaz-Antey concern will launch mass production of a civilian version of BAZ trucks in St. Petersburg. This was announced by Mikhail Podvyaznikov, General Director of the Obukhov Plant.
Currently, the certification process is being completed, after which mass production of BAZ heavy trucks will begin. The assembly of tractors will be organized on the basis of the former MAN plant, where MAN and Scania trucks were previously produced. Mass production is expected to begin by the summer of 2025.
BAZ-S36A11 trucks will replace foreign brands that have left the Russian market. The new models will be equipped with climate control, a navigation system, automatic tire inflation and other useful functions.
The share of domestic components in the new trucks is almost 90%. Engines and nine-speed gearboxes will be created at the Yaroslavl Avtodizel plant, and plastic and steel structures will be created at Ural-Polymer and Severstal enterprises.
Earlier www1.ru reported that new civilian BAZ trucks based on military vehicles were launched in Russia.
