The small anti-submarine ship (IPC) "Brest" of Project 1124M, code "Albatross" of the Kola Flotilla of heterogeneous forces of the Northern Fleet, conducted an anti-submarine exercise in the Barents Sea as part of planned combat training activities. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Defense.
During the exercises, the ship's crew carried out activities to search for submarines and practiced anti-submarine maneuvering techniques. The crew of the "Brest" was actively opposed by the crew of the submarine, which was tasked with launching a torpedo attack and conditionally destroying the surface ship.
The crew of the "Brest" carried out practical bombing from the RBU-6000 rocket launcher against a simulated underwater target, and also used torpedo weapons against it.
IPCs of Project 1124 "Albatross" are designed to search, detect, classify and destroy submarines in the near sea and coastal zone. The armament also includes two 533-mm torpedo tubes, the Osa-MA anti-aircraft missile system, and AK-176 and AK-630 artillery mounts.
