Simple, practical, reliable in Russian? The latest Lada T-134 crossover turned out to be a Western development

The car began to be designed on the Renault-Nissan platform

The Lada T-134 car presented to Russian President Vladimir Putin is nothing more than an attempt to adapt the Niva-3 design project to the Lada Vesta platform. The new crossover turned out to be a Western development.

The Niva-3 project began to be developed when AvtoVAZ collaborated with Renault. It was planned that the new car would be built on the Renault-Nissan CMF-B-LS platform.

The code designation T-134 evokes images of famous Soviet symbols — the T-34 tank and the Tu-134 aircraft. These associations, on the one hand, reflect the essence of the car — its simplicity, practicality and reliability, and on the other hand, can contribute to obtaining state support for the implementation of the project.

At the moment, no real research and development work has been carried out on the T-134.

On the evening of January 28, Vladimir Putin visited the AvtoVAZ plant in Tolyatti. There he was shown not only the T-134, but also the latest crossover, which received the provisional name Lada B+ Cross. Technical specifications are still unknown. AvtoVAZ also showed for the first time the Lada Iskra SW Cross station wagon.
