VR glasses for working with industrial equipment created in Moscow

The glasses work in conjunction with a smartphone and display data in real time

Smart glasses of mixed and augmented reality for use in industry have been developed at the Gubkin Russian State University of Oil and Gas. The device displays information and instructions for working with equipment directly in front of the specialist's eyes.

The novelty works in conjunction with a smartphone, the user receives data in real time. The glasses are equipped with a display (OLED or LCoS). It displays the image, and the mirror-lens system focuses the image in front of the eyes.

An operator who knows everything about a specific piece of equipment, in the form of visual and audio prompts, will help to perform a particular equipment repair operation. This will increase process efficiency, work safety and reduce equipment downtime.

Synchronization with a mobile device occurs thanks to the built-in Wi-Fi module. A mobile application is provided for controlling the glasses.

The developers are testing the novelty together with Gazpromneft ITO LLC. Special attention is paid to the size of the displayed image, the form factor and the location of the cameras inside the glasses.

Earlier www1.ru reported that an innovative VR emergency aid simulator was created by a graduate of Sechenov University.
