Crews of the "Gibka-S" anti-aircraft missile systems (SAM) provide air cover for motorized infantry units in the combat zone against enemy drones. The Russian Ministry of Defense released a video of the system in operation.
The reconnaissance vehicle constantly monitors the airspace and, if a target is detected, transmits its coordinates to the combat crew.
The SAM is designed to protect against any modern air attack weapons flying at low and extremely low altitudes. The "Gibka-S" is capable of engaging targets at any time of day and in conditions of limited visibility.
The system, mounted on the chassis of the "Tigr-M" armored vehicle, carries missiles of the "Verba" complex with a high-explosive fragmentation warhead, which can hit targets at a range of up to 10 kilometers.
The detection range of targets by the "Gibka" radar is about 40 km; at this distance, the system detects various targets, including helicopters and cruise missiles.
The dual-band homing heads of the 9M336 missiles are capable of capturing infrared signatures of these targets at a distance of up to 2.5–4.5 km.
