A wave of layoffs of electricians is coming in seven regions of Russia. The reason is a miracle development of domestic scientists. We are talking about a unique drone called «Spider». One such drone is capable of replacing the work of three to five teams of electricians.
«Spider» can knock down snow and ice, apply anti-icing compounds in winter, and liquid against wire corrosion in summer. An automated drone for servicing power grids can operate on the line without disconnecting it at temperatures up to –35 and travels up to 10–12 kilometers of wires per day.
The drones have already worked in seven northern regions of Russia, and are now clearing ice and sprinkling anti-icing agents on the lines of the Chusovsky electric networks in the Perm Territory. Then they will go to Salekhard and return to the Perm Territory. Also, «Spiders» are sometimes called upon to fight ice in the Irkutsk region. In the future, the geography of the drones' work will only expand.
To date, 20 copies of «Spider» have been produced, and seven more are in the process of being produced. One device can replace the work of three to five teams, each of which has three people.
According to the developers, the devices are currently produced from 80% domestic materials, but there are plans to increase this figure to 95%. Only video cameras will remain from imported materials.
The drone is capable of landing on phase wires under voltage of 35 kV, 110 kV and 220 kV.
Drones are already being supplied to Saudi Arabia and India. Negotiations are also underway on cooperation with Uzbekistan, Kazakhstan and the UAE.
Russia is confidently moving forward on the path of developing unmanned technologies. By 2030, the production of drones in the country will increase fivefold.
Earlier, a compact drone with a thermal imaging camera was developed at the Yenisei Siberia Scientific and Educational Center. It is designed to detect sources of ignition in forests. According to preliminary estimates, the use of this drone will save about 119 million rubles per year.
