BMP-3 armored personnel carriers with anti-drone canopies, a radio-electronic warfare (EW) system, and rubber-fabric screens on top of anti-cumulative grilles have become widespread in the Russian army. However, such armored vehicles have a serious disadvantage, military experts said.
Such large-scale canopies also play the role of a place for transporting infantry, since the current landing compartments on the BMP and armored personnel carriers of Soviet/Russian production are extremely inconvenient and do not allow for quick disembarkation from the vehicle under fire.
The BMP-3 was put on combat duty in 1987. The main armament of the BMP is a 100-mm rifled gun capable of firing guided missiles, paired with a 30-mm automatic cannon. The weight of the vehicle is 18.7 tons.
The UTD-32T engine is a modernized version of the UTD-29, which is considered more powerful, reliable and energy efficient. The engine is equipped with a turbocharger, which allows to significantly increase the dynamic properties of the car. On the highway, the BMP-3 travels at a speed of 70 km/h.
