The Kingisepp Machine-Building Plant (KMZ) has announced the start of production of box coolers for the cooling system of auxiliary diesel generators for the Lotos shipyard. This was reported by the company's press service.
A box cooler is a cooling system used on inland and sea vessels. In this system, the water to be cooled passes through a U-shaped tube bundle, which is placed in a kingston box with inlet and outlet grilles. Cooling is achieved by natural circulation of outboard water in the kingston box or by water circulation due to the movement of the vessel.
The Lotos shipyard is the largest plant in the Astrakhan region. The company specializes in the construction of vessels for inland navigation and the production of block modules of topsides for stationary platforms (the latter are involved in the exploration and production of oil and gas on continental shelves).
Earlier, www1.ru reported that KMZ will begin production of a new artillery mount — A-192.
