Unmanned catamarans from Sevastopol are cleaning Balaklava Bay from debris

The production of the first drones for cleaning debris from the water surface has begun in Sevastopol. The devices are already being used to clean Balaklava Bay, and in the future, their use is planned in other regions as well.

The "Moreagrobiotech" REC reported that the project is based on the unmanned catamaran "Sea Scorpion", which passed its first sea trials in February 2024. The weight of the device is about 60 kg, and it is capable of collecting floating debris, including plastic, paper, and wood.

Two such devices are already operating in the Balaklava yacht marina. Customers positively assess the prospects for increasing production.

At the first stage, drones will be actively used in the waters of Crimea. For operation outside the region, a business model is being developed, including adapting the devices to the needs of customers, their maintenance, and replacement of components.

Each drone is capable of removing up to 2 cubic meters of debris per working shift lasting four hours. Thanks to the simplified production technology, the domestic model is significantly cheaper than foreign counterparts. The modernized version received video communication for improved navigation, a new debris capture system, and additional body protection, which increased its functionality and reliability.
